Local hero Denis Istomin and Mikhail Elgin of Russia upset Third seeds Leander Paes of India and Andre Begemann of Germany to win the doubles finals at the ninth edition of the $125000 Tashkent ATP Challenger being played at the Olympic Tennis School in Tashkent.
In the finals Birthday boy Russian Mikhail Elgin and Uzbek Denis Istomin scored a 6-4,6-2 win over Paes and Begemann to claim the title.The winners of the event will get 125 ATP points and $7750 while the runners up got $4500 and 75 points.
Denis Istomin also placed himself in line for the double crown reaching the finals in the singles he will clash withFifth seeded Konstantin Kravchuk of Russia in the finals.
In the semifinals Fifth seeded Russian Konstantin played convincingly, to oust eighth seeded Mirza Basic of Bosnia Herzegovina 7-5,6-3 in 1 hour and 21 minutes. In the other semifinal lasting 1 hour and 11 minutes Local star Denis Istomin stopped Sixth seeded Lukas Lacko of Slovakia to keep alive his bid for his third title.
