Rodion Triagel & Hana Shabanpour Annex Titles at Asian 14&U Grade A Tournament in Shymkent

The curtain came down on a thrilling week of tennis at the Asian 14&U Grade A Tournament in Shymkent, Kazakhstan with host nation’s Rodion Triagel and Iran’s Hana Shabanpour emerging singles champions.

The highly anticipated finals on Saturday deliver captivating matches, with low-seed players rising to the occasion and claiming the coveted titles.

Following a week of intense action, the tournament culminated in a day of nail-biting finals. Rodion Triagel, seeded third, dominated the boys’ singles final, which he won 6-4, 6-0 against top seed Iranain Ramtin Rafeeboroujen. The Kazakhstan player was in exceptional form throughout the tournament and it culminated in an inspiring win.

Triagel’s dominance extended to the doubles event, where he partnered Uzbekistan’s Makhmudbek Bekhazarov. The duo proved unstoppable, overcoming the Indian pairing of Vivaan Bidsaria and Yashwin Dahiya in a tightly contested match which they won 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.

The girls’ singles final ended in victory for seeded second Shabanpour, who toppled top-seeded Ilima Guseynova from Turkmenistan 6-2, 6-3 victory.

The girls’ doubles final saw a celebration for the host nation as the all-Kazakh pairing of Linara Bulesheva and Medina Utepbergen emerged victorious. They displayed exceptional teamwork, defeating their compatriots Nailya Baimakhanova and Ubaidulla Gaukhar 6-2, 6-2.

This year’s tournament saw a special initiative by the ATF to foster wider participation.

Teams were sent to each Grade A tournament, providing an extra push to the talented players across the region. Among these players, Rodion Triagel & Makhmudbek Bekhazarov who emerged victorious in boys singles and doubles, and Nailya Baimakhanova, who triumphed in the girls’ doubles, deserve special recognition for their outstanding performances.

Both the singles winners & runners-up have secured spots in the upcoming ITF GSPDP Asian Junior Championship, scheduled for September in Cambodia.
