India Reign Supreme at ATF 12&U Team Competition in Kathmandu, Nepal

The ATF 12&U Team Competition South Asian Qualifying Event, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, concluded with India claiming the top honours in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. Backed by Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF), seven South Asian nations battled out for the two available spots at the 12&U Finals later this year.

In the week-long fierce competition, India lived up to their top billing in the boys’ category, dominating Pakistan in the final for a commanding 2-0 victory. The two finalists secured their places at the 12&U Finals, which will be held later this year in Kazakhstan.

The battle for the bronze medal was exciting with Sri Lanka blanking Bangladesh 3-0. The remaining teams competed fiercely, with Nepal securing the fifth place after a close 2-1 win over Maldives. Bhutan and Maldives rounded out the standings in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

India continued their dominance in the girl’s category as well. The Indian team won all four matches with their campaign culminating with an easy 2-0 win over Sri Lanka in the final. Both India and Sri Lanka, being the finalists, booked their ticket for the 12&U Finals.

Sri Lanka finished a strong second with three wins, while Bangladesh secured a commendable third place with two wins. The host nation, Nepal, relished a 2-1 victory against Maldives to finish fourth. Maldives, however, couldn’t register a win throughout the tournament.

The event, supported by the KTF, served as a valuable platform for nurturing young talent in the South Asian region. The high level of competition and sportsmanship displayed by all participating nations promises an exciting future for tennis in the region.

Congratulations to India and Pakistan in the boys’ category, and India and Sri Lanka in the girls’ category, for securing well-deserved spots at the 12&U Finals! We extend our best wishes to all the participating nations for their continued development and future success.
