ITF ATF 14&U Regional Training Camp Set to Ignite Young Talent in Kuala Lumpur.

GSPDP ITF ATF 14&U Team to Europe 2024.

The GSPDP ITF ATF 14&U Team to Europe 2024 concluded on August 3, Saturday, with the last tournament, Int. Duetsche Tennismeisterschaft, held in Duren, Germany. The Asian 14&U Players were, accompanied by three experienced coaches and participated in four back-to-back Tennis Europe Junior tournaments. The tour witnessed the Asian team of young tennis talents make significant strides.

In boys Dharma Pantaratorn (Tha), Dongjae Kim (Kor), Hruthik Katakam (Ind), Traigel Rodion (Kaz), and Kiarash Sadeghizeidi (Irn) and in girls Yeseo Park (Kor), Yeri Hong (Kor), Sijia Zhang (Chn), Paweenon Nualsri (Tha), Zooey Mak (Mas), and Aahan A. (Ind) were the part of ATF team. Accompanying coaches are Asim Shafik (Pak), Czarina M Aravelo (Phi) and Jiheon Im (Kor).

The tour kicked off with the first tournament Open Stade Francais tournament from July 8-13, followed by Tennis Europe U14 D’Annecy from July 15-20, Tournoi Loire Vallee from July 22-27, and finally, the Int. Deutsche Tennismeisterschaft from July 29 to August 3. The Asian team began the tour on a slow note, facing a tough challenge and conditions.

However, team found its rhythm and momentum in the second tournament, securing victories in both girls’ and boys’ events. Korea’s Yeseo Park outplayed Ukraine’s Anastasiia Nikolaieva in the girls’ singles finals, securing a 6-4, 6-3 victory. In the boys’ doubles, Korea’s Dongjae Kim and his partner emerged victorious in a nail-biting three-set match, defeating the Brazilian duo of Livas Eduardo and Henrique Pissetti Vialle with a score of 6-1, 6-7(4), 10-8.

This success continued into the third tournament, Tournoi Loire Vallee, Asian team dominated both singles and doubles categories in boys and girls. Korea’s DongJae Kim won the boys’ singles title, defeating Livas Eduardo (Bra) in a thrilling 3-set match, 6-1 2-6 7-5. In the boys’ doubles, Kim and his partner clinched the doubles title, beating Takahiro Kawaguchi & Shintaro Ogaki (Jpn) 6-7(6) 6-3 10-5. In the girls’ category, Yeri Hong (Kor) dominated the event, defeating her compatriot Yeseo Park (Kor) in the finals, 2-6 6-3 6-2. In Girls Doubles The Korean duo yeseo park & Yeri Hong edged past seeded 2 Zoe Doland & Luciana Luna 6-4 6-4 and emerged girls doubles champion.

The final tournament witnessed further triumphs, highlighting the team’s growth and development. Korea’s Dongjae Kim emerged as the singles champion, pulling off a thrilling 3-set victory against Mario Vukovic (Fra), winning 6-3 0-6 6-4. This is Kim’s second consecutive singles title on the tour. In the girls’ doubles, the Asian duo of Paweenon Nualsri (Tha) & Sijia Zhang (Chn) stunned the seeded 1 pair of Victorija Cesonyk & Maria Valentina, winning 7-5 6-2.

It’s worth noting that Korean players Dongjae Kim, Yeri Hong, and Yeseo Park have moved to Prostejov, Czech Republic, to join their team for the World Junior Tennis Finals (5 – 10 August). The invaluable experience and momentum gained from their successful European tour will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation for their upcoming challenge.

With this the GSPDP ITF ATF 14&U Team to Europe 2024 tour comes to an end. The Asian team had a remarkable performance this season, emerging as champions at various events. Despite starting the tour without a win, the team concluded on a high note, with a win in the last tournament.

Congratulations to the Asian team on their commendable performance at the four weeks of back-to-back tennis Europe junior tournaments. They have shown great skill and determination, competing against the best junior players around the region and world.
