Indonesia Crowned Champions at ITF World Junior Tennis Competition Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying (Girls) in Bahrain
Indonesia emerged victorious at the ITF World Junior Tennis Competition Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying event (Girls), held in Bahrain from February 17 to 22, 2025. With this triumph, both Indonesia and runners-up Sri Lanka secured their places in the Final Qualifying event later this year.
This year’s event saw an impressive rise in participation, with 18 nations competing in the girls’ category, up from 14 last year. Young tennis talents from across Asia and Oceania, aiming for a coveted spot in the next stage of the prestigious junior tennis event.
After three days of intense round-robin play, six teams topped their respective groups to advance to the quarterfinals—Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, Maldives, Philippines, and Indonesia.
Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Lebanon then booked their spots in the semi-finals following hard-fought battles on court.
In the semi-finals, Sri Lanka displayed dominance, sweeping past the Philippines with a commanding 3-0 victory. Indonesia, on the other hand, had to dig deep against Lebanon, edging out a 2-1 win in a gripping contest. With these results, Sri Lanka and Indonesia confirmed their spots in the Final Qualifying event.
The championship match witnessed Indonesia’s young stars rise to the occasion, delivering a flawless 2-0 performance against Sri Lanka to claim the title. Meanwhile, Lebanon secured third place with a close 2-1 victory over the Philippines.
With the conclusion of pre-qualifying event, Indonesia and Sri Lanka will look ahead to the Final Qualifying event, where they will compete for a place in the prestigious ITF World Junior Tennis Finals.
