Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault: Regional Qualifiers Conclude in Hainan, China.

The second regional qualifying event of the Roland Garros Junior Series by Renault has concluded in Hainan, China, marking a significant milestone in the journey to the Roland Garros Junior Championships 2025.

Following the success of the West & Central Asia qualifying event in Kazakhstan earlier this month, the event in China brought together the best youngsters from South, Southeast, and East Asia.

The week-long competition in Hainan featured 24 of the region’s best young players, each vying for one of the two coveted qualifying spots for the Roland Garros Junior Series Qualifying event in Tokyo this October.

The players competed in a round-robin stage, which was followed by exciting semi-final and final matches.

In the boy’s category, China’s Haolong He emerged champion while Ruien Zhang took the girls singles title.

Haolong He edged out Chinese Taipei’s Tseng Tzu-Yuan 6-3 6-4 in a tight semifinal while Indonesia’s Rafalentino Ali Da Costa displayed impressive form, storming past China’s Jia Hu 6-3 6-1 in the other semi-finals.

In the final, Haolong He downed Da Costa 6-4 6-4 to claim the championship.

The girls’ competition was equally captivating. Yushan Shao and Ruien Zhang, both from China, emerged victorious from the semi-finals, overcoming Mailuodi Lei (6-2, 6-3) and Peien Deng (7-6(2), 6-3) respectively. The final was an all-Chinese affair, with Ruien Zhang securing the title with a 6-4 6-3 win over Shao.

With these results, Haolong He and Rafalentino Ali Da Costa from the boys’ category, and Ruien Zhang and Yushan Shao from the girls’ section earned their spots in the upcoming Tokyo qualifying event.

This follows the earlier qualification of Akhmadjon Toshmukhamedov (UZB), Arseniy Trebukhin (KAZ), Sofia Issakova (KAZ), and Yasaman Yazdani (IRN) from the West & Central Asia qualifiers.

The Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault is a collaborative effort between the French Tennis Federation (FFT) and the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF). This initiative aims to provide greater opportunities for promising young players in Asia, fostering their development and offering a platform to compete at the highest levels of the sport.

Congratulations to Haolong He, Rafalentino Ali Da Costa, Ruien Zhang, Yushan Shao, Akhmadjon Toshmukhamedov, Arseniy Trebukhin, Sofia Issakova, and Yasaman Yazdani for their outstanding performances..
